Frederick McCubbin: Last Impressions 1907–17
14 August – 1 November 2009 - National Gallery of Australia
Australia's foremost impressionist Frederick McCubbin will be exhibited from 14 August to 1 November. The National Gallery will display works dating from after he viewed the inspirational works of European masters Turner and Monet. Viewing these great paintings in London influenced McCubbin's subsequent work.

Ballets Russes: the Art of Costume
4 December 2009 – 26 April 2010 - National Gallery of Australia
The National Gallery will host a major exhibition of the renowned collection of Serge Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes featuring costumes by artists Natalia Goncharova, Michel Larionov, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, André Derain, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Georges Braque, André Masson and Giorgio de Chirico.
